Waffles is a Dwarf Hamster.
Waffles was a classroom pet and got A+ in getting along with kids and being handled. There she traveled around happily in her hamster ball. She may have also learned a little math or science along the way, but so much for her academic career. Waffles is now in foster care. Foster mom says, "She's super cute! She's interested in interacting, especially for fruit and veggies, but even without that, she'll come over and check me out and let me pet her! Waffles LOVES to run in her wheel and burrow around her habitat." Being a hamster, she likes to clock some serious z-z-z-z's during the day. It's best not to disturb hamsters during their day time beauty sleep. Sometimes she's out and about at night and shows interest in interacting. Foster mom also provides some tips on handling this little cutie and says, "She can be held, but she's very fast so I can't always catch her. I hold her with my hands in the habitat. This is for her safety." Waffles' foster sweetens her adoption by giving the adopter some great hamster items, including a 40 gallon tank with a wire cover and wheel! Talk about a great bargain! You get adorable Waffles plus her home!
The hamster adoption fee is $17
Yawwwwwwn- you woke me up! Hamsters are nocturnal which means that we love to sleep during the day and play at night.
We have poor eyesight and are easily startled, and when startled we may nip, so take it slow when picking us up!
We are solitary animals and like to live alone. We do enjoy spending time with people though!!
We enjoy fresh grains, nuts (not too many please), veggies, and fruits every 2 to 3 days, in addition to plain old hamster food from the pet store. We especially love apples, carrots, spinach, and lettuce!
Our average lifespan is about 2-3 years.
Housing requirements: Most housing sold at pet stores is too small for small pets. They are going to be spending most of their lives inside their cage; your housing must be as large as the below or larger (bigger is always better!) in order to adopt this pet.
20 gallon aquarium, with wire mesh cover
Or a hamster cage at least 20L x 11.5W x 11H
