My Story

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process Hello, I'm Sweet Home Alabama! I'm a sprightly, slightly bashful, and a tad goofy rat. I'm the proud mama of 11 adorable little ones. I spend my days climbing, keeping fit for my energetic babies. I'm also great pals with Sweet Caroline, we love to play hide and seek. I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I'm all fun and games. I may be small, but my heart is big and full of love to give. Adopting me means gaining a tiny friend with a huge personality, who will keep you entertained with my goofy antics and love you unconditionally. ________________________________________________________________________________ Estimated birth date: 5/14/23 Personality: Hesitant, Nervous, Sweet, Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc) Favorite treats: Cheerios and Seeds Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food Favorite toys and activities: Hiding in her cloth-covered tube Potty trained: We're working on it! This animal’s daily routine: In the morning, her fosters fill up her water bottle and food bowl. In the afternoons, she and her friend get some trust training, and food gets topped off if needed. BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Sweet Home Alabama & Sweet Caroline (Bum Bum Bum) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dog-nervous Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None Health concerns: None. Please note that Sweet Home Alabama is currently nursing her pups and can not go to her forever home until they are weaned. Behavioral concerns: Sweet Home Alabama is in our trust training program due to being nervous and unsure of people. She is nursing pups, so her fosters are looking after her but mostly leaving her in peace. They are talking with her and offering her treats. Learn more about our trust training methods at https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/trust-training Other notes: She had 11 pups! She is a good mama. Sweet Home Alabama & Sweet Caroline (Bum Bum Bum) came to MNPPR when their previous owner was no longer able to keep up with care. Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Maple Grove PetSmart - 11200 Fountains Dr, Maple Grove, MN 55369 for meet & greets, & adoptions. Fee: Sweet Home Alabama & Sweet Caroline (Bum Bum Bum) have a combined adoption fee of $35 We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask. Sweet Home Alabama's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for SHA or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.
