My Story

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process Estimated birth date: 12/22/23 Personality: Curious, Energetic, Enjoys being held, Friendly toward humans, Hesitant, Inquisitive, Nervous, Quiet, Readily allows you to pick it up, Sweet Favorite treats: Cheerios, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dehydrated strawberries, peas!! Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food. Favorite toys and activities: Shania loves to dig in her digging box and LOVES to run on her wheel. Potty trained: No - Shania isn't potty trained, but she seems to favor one area of her enclosure to go potty This animal’s daily routine: Flexible we typically have outside play time several times a day for 20 minutes or so each. She'll sometimes run around the room or have shoulder time. BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Shania is currently getting to know two new arrivals, Roxanne & Rhiannon! Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dogs and cats. She doesn't seem to mind either Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Shania and her foster's 12-year-old have had extensive time together. Shania doesn't mind at all, but they are also very considerate of how they pick her up. Health concerns: None Behavioral concerns: None Other Notes: Shania is so inquisitive! She's a little shy to climb up on your arm, but she's always at the forefront of her cage checking out the room. She loves little scratches on her head and doesn't mind being picked up and looking at things from the vantage point of a shoulder. With time and love, I think she'll get comfortable actively crawling on an outstretched hand. Shania came to MNPPR to find a cage mate. Her previous one passed away and her surrenderers were unable to take in another rat. Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Highland Park PetSmart in St. Paul (2277 Ford Pkwy, St. Paul, MN 55116). for meet & greets, & adoptions. Fee: Roxanne, Rhiannon, & Shania have a combined adoption fee of $50 We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask. Shania's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Shania or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.
