Introducing the one and only MIKE! If you have been looking and searching for the perfect guinea pig, you just found him. West Van SPCA cannot get enough of our sweet piggy Mike. This social Guinea pig is looking for his forever home, could it be with you!? Mike came to us after living in a soiled cage with long nails, painful mats, and urine soaked feet. After a bath, nail trim and spa day, Mike is feeling better than ever. Mike is a very social little pig, he loves to be where people are, and you can feel his little eyes on you as you go about your day. He will make little excited *peeeps!* when you enter the room asking for a pet of the head and some fresh veggies. Mike loses his little mind over red peppers, and to Mike they are the greatest gift the earth has to offer. He is currently in a foster home where he is getting better and better about litter box training and shares most of the space with his foster mom. Guinea pigs, like all pets, are a life-long commitment that requires space and time, and veterinary care. We would love to see Mike go to a home that is committed to keeping him happy and healthy, he's a very sweet boy. Update from our foster (July 15th, 2024): "Mike seemed to be a little unsure about having the whole apt as his pen. I think maybe I had spread things out that he wanted to keep closer together. He was doing quite a bit of darting between his structures. So we decided to move his old pen back, do some renos and decorating, but still keep it open at night in case he does want to go have some hay in his tent or hang out in his bigger tunnel (he has hay in his pen too and litter-box but likes to have a munch and a nap in his tent) We're in negotiations though on his under the couch access. I've got a couple more foods on his likes and loves lists. He likes romaine lettuce very much, and loves apple (pink lady, to be specific, so far). The apple is actually rivaling the red pepper! Mike's been pretty good with me combing his hair with my fingers and has let me do almost all of his locks - he's still sensitive about his back end but we're getting there.
