How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by a community member. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated and microchipped. This pet is now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you: Several guinea pigs recently came into our care and we need to find homes for all of them. Little Gem is a mature lady with a cute little guinea pig ears and a coat of many colors of which she is very proud.. As with most guinea pigs, she should be relatively easy to care for. She will need a large enclosure - not a small cage. She will need room for hiding, eating, going to the bathroom, sleeping and eating. She will prefer that her enclosure be around her human family because she is a social one who wants to be part of the family and needs human interaction. While it may not like to held, it will tolerate it but will prefer sitting quietly next to you and maybe crawling onto your lap. It will like a buddy so if you will consider adopting a second one, that would be great. Some of her siblings are in our care. We can show you how to fix a good living space for guinea pigs.
