My Story

Kellum (A135006) is a 5-year-old intact male Chinchilla that weighed just over a pound on intake! 06/27/24 This little social guy is Kellum! Good Samaritans rescued him when he was found outside being hunted by a raven. Kellum is a very active chinchilla eager to seek out his next adventure. However, the outdoors is not a safe place for a chinchilla. Chinchillas should have access to a multilevel enclosure. They are nocturnal meaning they are active at night and like to snooze during the daytime. Providing Kellum with plenty of hides and nice fleece blankets to cozy up in his next enclosure is a must! Chinchillas should also have access to a dust bath. This is not only for their mental health but also for their coat. Keep in mind that the oils on our hands are not good for his coat. A well-balanced diet is also key! He should have unlimited access to timothy hay for his teeth and gi health and a measured amount of chinchilla food. Chinchillas drink out of a water bottle that can be hung on their enclosure. Also providing them with plenty of chinchilla approved chews for not only mental stimulation but their teeth is important! If you are interested in meeting this happy little guy, please let us know!
