Fraser is 1.5 years old and the father of Noble, and Douglas. Noble, and Douglas are 7 months old. Noble and Fraser protest being picked up but are fine once you put them on your shoulder. They've made great improvements and would likely continue to improve. Douglas has no issues being picked up. While Fraser is a little older, he's a great health! A proper enclosure has good ventilation (no glass aquariums), solid floors and shelves (no wire to injure feet), is secure with bar spacing small enough to prevent escape or heads getting caught. It should be large enough to allow space for enrichment activities like climbing, exploring, hiding, balancing, and digging/burrowing. Four cubic feet of space per rat is preferred.
