My Story

?? Meet Dennis and Zim the Chinchillas - Ready for a Loving Home! ?? Hello! We are Dennis and Zim the 2-year-old Chinchillas. We came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on June 26th, 2024, because our owner, who got us at Petsmart and Animart respectively, moved and couldn’t take us with. Now, we’re looking for a new forever home where we can be loved and cared for! Interested in adopting us? Please fill out an adoption application on our website and let’s find us the perfect new home! About Us: We are Dennis and Zim, two playful and curious Chinchillas who love to explore and enjoy life. We love to eat Timothy hay and Full Cheeks Chinchilla food. Offer dandelion greens and carrots as a treat. Fresh water should always be available. Care Tips for Chinchillas: ? Housing: We need a spacious multi-level cage with plenty of room to jump and climb. Provide hiding places, ledges, and tunnels for enrichment. ?? Temperature: Keep our environment cool, between 60-70°F. We are sensitive to heat and can overheat easily. ? Lighting: Provide natural light or low-intensity artificial light. Ensure a consistent day/night cycle. ? Humidity: Maintain a low humidity level, ideally below 50%, to prevent respiratory issues. ?? Diet: We need a high-fiber diet that includes low-calcium grass hay and pellets. Hay should be available 24 hours a day and make up the main part of our diet. ???? Exercise: Running on wheels is our favorite pastime. Ensure we have a solid-surface exercise wheel to run on safely. ? Grooming: We need regular dust baths to keep our fur clean and healthy. Provide a dust bath container with chinchilla dust several times a week. Lifespan: With proper care, Chinchillas can live up to 10-15 years in captivity. Let’s find Dennis and Zim a new home where they can jump, explore, and enjoy a happy, healthy life together! ?? #AdoptDontShop #ChinchillaLove #RescuePets
