Cashewy

Cashewy is a male syrian hamster who's come out of a horrible situation. There was 56 hamsters dropped off at a reptile rescue by the owners friend. Out of those hamsters, we agreed to take in 50. They came from a situation that got out of hand with 4 escaped hamsters breeding throughout the owners home, totaling around 200. Out of all the ones we've received, only a handful had minor injuries. Because of all the chaos, we can only guess based off of body size/coat condition and developmental features, Cashewy is estimated to be around 12 months old at the time of posting his ad. Cashewy is a large boy, which is above average for his kind. He is hand tame and has a desire to dig tunnels and sleep all the time. He isn't very needy, but we'd expect with all adopters, to take their hamster out for playtime outside of their enclosure for bonding. Daily interactions outside are a must, to make sure they can feel safe and secure and not secluded like how prey animals naturally behave. He can still spook when first interacting with him, but once settled he'll start warming up to you. He did very well inside of a niteangel cage where the front opened up. I don't know how he would respond to top opening enclosures, so please be mindful during interactions. He's a very gentle boy who is sure to make someone's day. Cashewy would be good in a home with teens (13+) to adults. Beginner or experienced homes are fine. Sorry no children homes for him. His personality is not for a younger home. Adoption fee is $20.
