MEE?T SPIDER PIG: Spider Pig was surrendered to Reptilia in 2016 as an adult and is now over 8 years old. Spider pig likes to eat her repashy and snack on crickets dusted with calcium dust. ENCLOSURE: The bigger and taller the better! Crested geckos are an arboreal species. Minimum recommended size is 18?L x 18?W x 36?H for an adult crested gecko SUBSTRATE: Ideally kept with a drainage layer on the bottom, keep 2-4 inches of topsoil and coconut fiber (mixed together) to maintain humidity. HIDES: Providing a lot of climbing foliage and decor will allow for your crested gecko to create hides for themselves from the fake plants, and other decor. Hanging/magnetic hides may also be purchased. LIGHTING: UV Index at the basking branch should be between 1.0-2.0 TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY: * Basking area (highest point the gecko can reach) — 82-85°F * Cool area (lowest point the crested gecko can reach)—70-75°F DIET: Premade dietary formulas in combination with insects like crickets, hornworms, etc. that have a calcium supplement added Examples of popular brands for the dietary formula include: -Repashy -Pangea -ZooMed WATER: Offer fresh water from a dish at all times. SHEDDING: Increase humidity during shedding. Shedding happens over a few days in pieces. TEMPERAMENT: Crested Geckos can be great beginner reptile but can be flighty and FAST. Getting comfortable with a crested gecko, like any animal can be a slow process. Crested gecko are also an active species and may opt to explore rather than just hang out with you on the couch. LIFESPAN: 15-20 years.
