Lord Marmalade was brought into a veterinary office to be euthanized for his behavior claiming he was overly aggressive. Luckily the amazing veterinarians advocated for him and were able to help the owner to surrender him and get him into our care.
Upon coming into our care, Marmalade has been nothing but a gentle, curious, and docile large lizard. He enjoys perching on his favorite branches and snacking on fruits that are handfed to him. In our care, he has been great with handling and is very gentle. He has won the hearts of our volunteers as well as many members of the public with his friendliness and love of being the center of attention!
It takes continuous work to ensure Iguanas stay habituated and comfortable around humans. Lord Marmalade would love a home where he has plenty of space to stretch out and climb as he continues to grow to his full 6 feet in length (currently 4 feet). We ask that a home be able to provide an indoor space that is at least 8’ x 6’ x 7’ for Marmalade to be able to thrive in captive care, though larger is always better.
