My Story

?? Meet Lana the Leopard Gecko - Seeking a Forever Home! ?? Hello everyone! I’m Lana, a beautiful Leopard Gecko looking for a loving new home. ? I came to J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue on 5/22/24 because my owners lost their house. Adoption Details: In lieu of a set adoption fee, J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue asks that a donation be made in my name to help keep the rescue afloat. Your generosity ensures that other animals like me receive the care they need. If you're interested in adopting Lana, please fill out an adoption application on our website and let’s find me a perfect new home! Care Tips for Leopard Geckos: ? Habitat: Provide me with a spacious tank, at least 20 gallons, to accommodate my needs. Include hides, climbing structures, and a moist hide for shedding. Ensure my enclosure has a secure lid to prevent escape. ?? Temperature and Humidity: Maintain a temperature gradient of 75-85°F during the day, with a basking spot of 88-92°F. Nighttime temperatures can drop to 70-75°F. Keep a humidity level of 30-40%, with a moist hide to assist with shedding. ? Lighting: While some say that Leopard Geckos do not require UVB lighting, but recent studies show that adding it to a light cycle of 12 hours light and 12 hours darkness is beneficial. Use a heat mat to provide the necessary belly heat. ?? Diet: Offer a balanced diet of live insects such as crickets, mealworms, and dubia roaches. Dust insects with calcium powder and provide a multivitamin supplement once a week. Fresh water should always be available in a shallow dish. ?? Handling and Socialization: Handle me gently and regularly to keep me social and friendly. Support my body fully and avoid sudden movements to prevent stress. ? Cleanliness: Clean my enclosure regularly, removing waste and uneaten food. Perform a thorough cleaning and substrate replacement every few months to maintain a healthy environment. ? Enrichment: Enrich my environment with plenty of hides, climbing structures, and natural decor. Providing a varied and stimulating environment will help keep me happy and healthy. Let's find Lana the perfect forever home where she'll be cherished and well-cared for! ?? AdoptDontShop #RescueGecko #LeopardGeckoLove
