My Story

Meet Kronos Kronos is a spider morph ball python. Ball pythons bred with the spider morph often showcase a neurological condition in the form of a "wobble" that is associated with these snakes having poor muscle tone and unable to really gauge where up and down is. While some individuals of this morph have such severe symptoms, their quality of life is at risk, others display only moderate symptoms that can become worse if stressed. Over the years, the number of breeders of the spider morph has significantly fallen, which is great news as these snakes are put at a huge disadvantage from their hatch day. Common symptoms include twisting movements of the head, difficulty striking prey items, sitting or resting upside down, and general lack of coordination. Kronos' symptoms and wobble are mild in nature, yet still clearly present at times. However, his overall health and personality are not compromised by this. ENCLOSURE: The bigger the better! But no smaller than 36" x 18" x 18" for an adult SUBSTRATE: Ball pythons do best with a mixture of substrates that retains humidity, such as soil, sand, mulch and moss. HIDES: Offer ample hiding space with at least one hide on the warm side and one on the cool side. A thermometer and humidity gauge will help make sure the temperature is correct. LIGHTING: Ball Pythons require a day and night cycle. UVB is not required but there are some benefits of having UVB, such as improving overall health and immune system. TEMPERATURE & HUMIDTY: Daytime: 75-80°F on the cool side and 80-85°F on the warm side. Basking spot should be 88-92°F. Nighttime: 70-75°F. DIET: Carnivores, preying on frozen thawed rats, mice, chicks, or quail. Juveniles eat weekly while adults can be offered a meal every 3-4 weeks. Ball pythons are known for going off food for periods of time at random. WATER: Offer fresh water from a dish at all times. SHEDDING: Juveniles and babies will shed more frequently since they are growing quickly. Adults will shed less frequently. During shed the snake may refuse food, and be a little more defensive! TEMPERAMENT: Ball pythons are a very common pet snake due to their docile nature and natural inclination to hide in defence rather than bite. LIFESPAN: Ball pythons can live for 25-35+ years. One ball python in the United States just turned 52! Ball pythons are a very common pet snake due to their docile nature and natural inclination to hide in defence rather than bite.
