April

April is a red-eared slider who is learning slowly to come out of her shell here at Luna's House. Abandoned in a plastic tote outdoors, we can only imagine how frightened April must have been. Though we are unsure of her age, we estimate that she is a younger adult, perhaps about 4-4.5 years old (as of June 2023). Named after the famed reporter of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchise, April is healthy and ready to find her forever family. Aquatic turtles like April live an average of 20-30 years in captivity, so their addition to any family is a *long-term commitment.* Like all companion animals, reptiles need daily and medical care...and, despite how April was abandoned, they are NOT disposable. You will be coming to our Animal Care and Education Center, located at 2801 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood, MD. Our adoption fee for a turtle from Luna's House is $25. This is a donation meant to help us cover part of the cost of caring for the animal you are adopting while (s)he is with us, including veterinary exam, food, supplies, etc.
