My Story

Shade came to WHRS from the Shawano Humane Society. They had rescued her from a horrible neglect situation. If ever a bunny deserves a loving Forever Home, it is Shade. Shade has mildly splayed legs as a result of the neglect, but this does not prevent her from doing happy binkies the minute she spots her humans. Her leg condition sometimes makes her look a little bit uncoordinated, but it does not slow her down. She does her leaping laps every morning, and then she will look at you with those long eyelashes waiting for her morning treat. She is a sweet, affectionate bunny, who also waits patiently for her salad and kibble to be served. Loud noises can startle Shade, so it is recommended that she live in a home without small children or dogs. She loves having lots of space to run and do spinning binkies, and she needs a surface where she won’t slide. Carpeting her surface so she has traction is recommended. She is very content to nap behind the sofa where a sun beam can find her. She will let you know it is time for petting by giving you a gentle boop with her nose, and sometimes she will even climb into your lap to let you know your job is not finished. If you think you can provide a calm, safe, loving forever home for Shade please go to our website at www.wisconsinhrs.org and fill out an adoption application. Our website is also a source of information on how to properly care for your bunny. Shade is currently housed in our Richfield foster home. Shade is spayed and is up to date on her RHVD2 vaccine. WHRS provides a free copy of the House Rabbit Handbook: How to Live with an Urban Rabbit with all adoptions. Adopters also receive a one-year membership to the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society.
