My Story

Meet Janet! Janet is a beautiful rescue bunny who was about to take a swim in the Willamette when her future human bun-sisters rescued her. At eight weeks old with a tiny floofy body, complete with extravagant eyeliner, Janet became a huge part of the family, immediately commandeering everyone's hearts with her adorable personality. Janet is 4 lbs. and approx. 4 years old. The initial vet visit determined her bday was in the first week of April 2020. The vet also recognized thoroughbred characteristics and said she could be a show bunny which, despite all of her Lionhead antics, Janet chose to be a stay at home thespian. Her fluffy Lionhead coat is mostly white with bits of caramel, and her dark brown eyes (and the eyeliner) are all-knowing and will follow you, especially once she trusts you. Janet has a nervous and shy demeanor at first but when she gets to know you, watch out! She has a humorous side and will let you know little improv bunny jokes. She is intelligent, curious, and social. A good sign of her trust is her flopping near you, doing binky's, and treating you like her best understudy. She will always accept cheek, forehead, and jowl scritches. She likes to be patted and pampered to some degree and will let you know when it's too much. She might bolt out of reach if she feels two hands on her body. She does not like to be held but will accept you safely holding her in her enclosure while seated. She needs bunny savvy humans who understand bunny-patience and that her tiny bunny-size self is easily startled by loud noises and big human forms. Sitting or lying on the floor with her is a nightly ritual and she will come explore you and more, when she's ready. Janet has met other bunnies through gates, but has never lived with a dog or cat. Janet has grooming needs that rival a teenager's! She delights in once a week bun brushing that includes a check in with her undercarriage for attached items such as hay and poop. She is a regular at Rabbit Advocates' Spa Days for other needs that include nail trims and gland extraction as she cannot reach this area due to her coat. She's had routine yearly check-ins and the vet recently put her on pain med for mild arthritis in her hips. Janet has lived in a well defined fenced area in a non bunny-proofed home. She enjoys daily and nightly supervised field trips outside her enclosure, and will let you know when it's showtime. She is really good at finding things to chew on including furniture, so having enough interactive natural chewing options within her enclosure is a good idea. Janet is a master of the litter box but will occasionally leave a few mementos in her enclosure - it's her stage and scene, after all! Janet turns her nose up at all greens and instead embraces the palate of the true actress she is: a fresh bowl of water, just plain timothy hay (80%), sometimes oat or other treat hay, adult rabbit food pellets (20%), and her favorite nightly apple/banana treat in the shape of a heart. In fact when she hears the words, "Janet would you like a TREAT? she just about loses her mind racing around, thumping gleefully, acting her joy, until the treat is delivered. Janet is seeking a permanent home with patient, bunny savvy persons or a family with older kids. She needs a home with folks who understand her need for attention and who will love to spend time with her. It is important that her persons can meet her Lionhead grooming needs regularly. Janet is a tiny little creature with a great stage presence, ready for a good audience to steal the show from!
