My Story

Ebony is a small bunny with a big personality and lots of bunnitude (bunny-attitude). She is the Queen of her little kingdom (ie the bedroom she gets to free-roam 24/7) with lots of sass and a bit of a diva streak. She is the boss and she want you to know it, but her foster parents are wrapped around her little paw, so they don’t mind keeping-up with her high-maintenance standards. They love spoiling Ebony and making her happy because she never had nice things to call her own before being rescued. She is just starting to learn how amazing and good life can be when cared for by good humans. Ebony is a bunny with complex needs. She was rescued from a bad past, which included being physically abused by humans, and she still carries emotional scars. To survive, Ebony developed certain aggressive behaviours as self-defense, including cage aggression and grunting/biting when scared. She can easily startle and has an anxious disposition around unfamiliar people or things. Her foster parents have spent months working with her to help rehabilitate from her trauma. They are incredibly proud of the progress she has made, but she will always be affected by her past and require special consideration from her caregivers. Ebony’s foster parents have developed a few ways of accommodating her special needs, and they will go-over everything in detail with any potential adopters. Despite her difficult past, Ebony is still so vibrant and joyful to be alive in the present. She starts every morning with binkies and zoomies. Her foster parents say she binkies more than other bunny in the home. She is very playful and enjoys a variety of enrichments toys, like hidey-holes, stacking cups, sticks to chew, and her favourite stuffed piggie. Digging in the laundry basket is probably her favourite past time, with tearing apart cardboard boxes and hanging out in her tunnel being close seconds. She will chew cables if given the opportunity but isn’t otherwise destructive when given proper enrichment. Ebony is excellent at eating her hay, she loves first cut timothy but is not picky. In the past, Ebony had limited exposure to fresh green veggies, but she is curious and loves to try new ones. She really enjoys her pellets too (Versele Laga brand), which her foster parents often use to distract her during cage-cleaning time. Ebony has an excellent sense of time and will let you know if you are running late on any of her meals or treats. Ebony’s litter habits are impeccable, as long as the human’s litter box cleaning schedule is also impeccable. However, likely due to her past trauma, she does not tolerate a wet litter box and she will start to go outside the box if it’s not topped up daily. Ebony is just waiting for the perfect humans to call her forever family, ones who can respect her boundaries and accommodate her complex needs. She will do best in a home without children or any other pets but may be suited for bonding with a calm and docile male bunny. She will need humans that are bun-savvy and have past experience with anxious or traumatised rabbits. Ebony’s foster parents love her to pieces, and they know there is a perfect forever family out there for her, one who will understand how she is affected by her bad past and will promise her a future that is happily ever after. Because Ebony is so special, her adoption fee is reduced to $100. She is so deserving of a loving forever home that will love her for many years to come.
