My Story

Cooper is a neutered english spot / dwarf mix. He is around 4.5 years old, and fully grown at just 3lb. His foster describes him as a sweet, independent, and a huge foodie. As of June 2024 Cooper has been waiting for his forever home for 741 days! When we first met Cooper in June 2022 his incisors (front teeth) were growing out of his mouth and he needed to have surgery to extract them. Luckily rabbits are able to live normal lives without their incisors, they just need small dietary adjustments. For example, Cooper needs his greens and hay to be cut into smaller pieces for him and his pellets should be scattered so that he doesn't gulp down too many at once and choke. A fair trade for a rabbit that cannot chew baseboard or furniture! Cooper is independent and likes to spend his days running through his tunnels, exploring (a.k.a. looking for food), and grooming and adjusting his blankets until they are just right. He LOVES to be pet and if you approach him, he will let you pet him forever and will nudge your hand for more if you stop. Like most rabbits, Cooper is not a big fan of walking on the floor so he'll need a large area rug to run around and binky on. He is not much of a jumper and stays off the couch, preferring instead to interact on the floor. His ideal family would enjoy spending time sitting or lying on the floor with him. Though with pet stairs and some tasty treats, Cooper might be enticed to get on the couch. A calm, quiet, and relaxed home without young children would suit Cooper best as loud noises tend to make him hide and not come out of his area. He would do best in a home with no other pets or just one gentle companion. Cooper would love to meet the right bunwife one day to settle down with. Cooper is completely free roaming in his current foster home. He has decided that he is a window bunny and spends a large amount of his free time loafing in the windows and watching the outdoors. He also loves his snuffle mat. He's a very friendly and well behaved low energy rabbit. **Cooper currently hold the record for the most times we've had to re-extract the same teeth in a rabbit. When rabbits have their teeth extracted, the root is cauterized, so that the tooth (usually) will never grow back. Unfortunately, a couple of Coopers teeth did end up growing back so he had to have 2 more extractions. We're hoping his most recent extraction at the end of 2023 will be his last one!** Apply to meet Cooper: pennyandwild.org/adopt/rabbits/adoption-application
