My Story

In over two years, Cherry has not received a single adoption application. Not one person has ever looked at her or applied to take her home. Likely the product of an accidental litter, Cherry was abandoned at a pet store with her siblings and her parents in January 2022. We we met Cherry, we found--huddled in a corner--a two months old creature that was all ears with a tiny wiggly nose. Cherry was the largest of her siblings and became their protector when they came in as babies. She was always cuddled against them, always comforting and leaning into her siblings. As they got a little bit older, and as her siblings started to find homes, she shut down and withdrew from people completely. Over the last two years, with the patience and love of kind and gentle people, Cherry has learned to open back up. She is an extremely sensitive bunny, she reacts strongly to human emotions and is very much a bunny who picks her person. To those who take the time to get to know Cherry and show her care, Cherry is very open. She is hand shy when it comes to pets but she will come up for treats, play with toys, and deliberately approach you when she wants company. She will accept head rubs from time-to-time but will step just out of reach if you try to pet her body. She very much enjoys being around certain people and will make a point to be around you when she trusts you, even if it's just out of reach. Cherry has decided that she would prefer to be a single bunny and not have a friend. However, she enjoys the company of cats quite a bit and will even hop over to play with them at times. She doesn't mind dogs that are quieter but shuts down around loud barking. She's very sensitive to the energy of her environment and as such, she's looking for a stable home with somebody who will love her and speak kindly to her. When she has enough space, Cherry is an absolute dream bunny. Her foster tells us time and time again that Cherry's been the easiest rabbit she's ever fostered. She is quiet, well behaved, never misses her litterbox, likes to spend much of the day sleeping and lounging, and love to sit on top of cardboard boxes as well. She is perfectly content to stay in her area as long as it's large enough and is polite and easygoing. Cherry is an incredibly gentle. She'll take food right out of your palm and sit right next to you. She never boxes or bites. She just steps out of the way if she doesn't want to be touched. She'll be such a great bunny for her new mom or dad. After over 800 days of waiting, it's time Cherry finally gets her own Forever Family. Can you help us find Cherry a Forever Home before she spends a third year not knowing the love of a Forever Family?
