Alfalfa

We need your help finding a very special home for a very special boy. Alfalfa is about 5 years old and was confiscated from a drug bust. He had abscesses in his side that would make him scream, urine incontinence, sneezed like crazy, and just slept all the time. Little man was in rough shape. His abscesses have been taken care of and he’s doing way better! He uses his litter box for pee 100% of the time (poop is 60% of the time - he just gets so excited and some slip out!). Every few weeks he’ll need a butt bath. He’s so chill that sometimes he’ll get extremely comfortable and wind up peeing on himself while sleeping. The main thing to note is that Alfalfa requires a special needs home where he is the ONLY bunny. He has chronic snuffles/pasturella. Unless your other bunny also has pasturella. This means that he has a constant bacterial infection that constantly causes him to sneeze. It is contagious to other rabbits and he is on antibiotics almost constantly to mitigate his symptoms. There is some debate within the rabbit community as to if it’s fully treatable or not, but we don’t believe it is. From our experience, the symptoms can just be mitigated. Alfalfa is the world’s most relaxed boy - a real life Eeyore - and has been through so much in his 5 years. It’s not his fault that he was kept in a trap house with owners who hoarded rabbits and allowed them to get sick. It’s not his fault he had abscesses in his side. None of this is his fault. But he’s paying the price for it and it’s going to be extremely difficult to find him a forever family. He is SO good and SO kind. He just needs to be the only bunny and will need Baytril often.
