My Story

Meet Stoney~ If interested in adopting Stoney PLEASE TEXT DIRECTLY TO: 203-241-2351, as our horse adoption application is not available right now. At 17 old, Stoney was rescued from the Bastrop, Louisiana Auction Barn. There, if animals are not rescued, they are shipped out of the country where they are slowly tortured until they finally die. Then their bodies are processed and consumed by humans! What a pathetic way to make a living! Stoney came to us very thin. But luckily, other than that, he was in decent shape. He was very head shy, but that has got much better. He is still weary of humans, but obviously the more we work with him the better he gets. Stoney is quiet, gentle sole, that is very easy going and laid back. He also does beautifully in the herd and causes no trouble at all. Besides for a little arthritis he is in good health. For the arthritis we give him Previcox a few times a week and he does fine with that. Stoney is great under saddle! He is very calm, respectful and responsive. I wouldn't say "bombproof" because at times he can get a little spooked, but nothing bad at all. He has been ridden on trails and has done great even stopping at the mounting block without even being asked or cued in any way. Stoney loads and trailers wonderfully. He is great for the farrier. Even though he is so terrified of the veterinarian (**Our veterinarians are OUSTANDING, Stoney has just had a rough past obviously!) that he actually trembles, he is well-behaved and causes no trouble. Update~Stoney was adopted and has been boarded at a beautiful facility where he has lived a great life. Unfortunately, now after 3 ish years his adopters can no longer afford to keep him. So now Stoney should be around 20-21 years old. *IF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING Stoney~ Please text us directly at 203-241-2351. *At this time there will be no applications for equine adoptions. As the whole adoption process will be worked through, first by phone, then in person. We want to make the adoption process stress free, but we absolutely need to make sure everyone will be happy, and safe! BREED IDENTIFICATION: Please understand that many rescue animals are mixes of multiple breeds. Petfinder allows us to choose up to two breeds per animal. While the shelters and our rescue do our best in accurately identifying breeds, breed identification is not guaranteed at all, and is basically only a guess. ABOUT OUR RESCUE: We are a small rescue run by volunteers & focused on finding the right match for both our animals, & for you. If you are interested in adopting through our rescue, you first will need to complete an adoption application & be approved as a potential adopter before meeting any of our animals. No need to be intimidated by our application as it allows us to get to know you & your lifestyle. Of course, the more you can share the better! Once adoption applicants are approved to become potential adopters, we offer private appointments where you can meet, and spend as much time with, the animal of your choice. We offer a unique & pleasant experience focused on finding the perfect match. **It is extremely important to us that everyone is treated with respect & that NO ONE IS LEFT HANGING. WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU WITHIN 2 TO 3 DAYS of application submission. If there is a dog/cat you are eager to meet, please TEXT US DIRECTLY at 203-241-2351 so that we can check the status of your application and move it forward immediately. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you find your new best friend. *All adult dogs can be cat tested by request. HOME/RENTER INSURANCE: SOME PROVIDERS HAVE VERY STRICT POLICIES REGARDING WHICH TYPE OF DOG BREEDS ARE ALLOWED UNDER THEIR COVERAGE. STATE FARM WAS SUGGESTED TO US AS THEY DO NOT PUNISH, DROP, NOR REFUSE YOU DUE TO DOG BREED SHOULD YOU RUN INTO ISSUES WITH YOUR CURRENT PROVIDER.
