My Story

Sonny was born in 1993 and came to EPH with Touch in his early 20s when his owner was diagnosed with cancer. This woman and her husband loved Touch and Sonny very much and wanted them to receive the best care. The woman ultimately lost her battle with cancer, and her husband was in no condition to care for two horses. And thus, Sonny and Touch joined EPH's rescue herd. Prior to coming to EPH, Sonny was a trail and pleasure riding horse. He is a skilled lesson horse and therapy horse, and still occasionally sets out for a trail ride. He was trained to carry the Independent Strides therapy saddle, and is an incredibly open and intuitive therapy horse. Some volunteers call him "Sunny" for his sunny disposition. He is the second oldest horse at EPH! He has some light arthritis, but still cuts quite an elegant figure at the trot and lope and is a gifted liberty horse. Monthly upkeep: $250 Some of Sonny's expenses are covered by one of our volunteers, but he would love another partial sponsor. Sponsors receive photos and updates!
