My Story

Meet SIOBAHN_ATFO TRAINING HORSE Siobahn 2020 Appalachian Brumby Chestnut Mare 13 hh estimated FEE: $1500 starting bid in August, fees will increase with training TRAINING: This horse is part of a special training event called the Appalachian Trainer Face Off. You can learn about it on Facebook and on our website. Horses in this training event are adoptable following 100+ days of training in August. If you're looking for a pony this girl is as sweet and smart as they come. She just may be the one for you!! Green and freshly started under saddle, but showing great promise to be a horse for an intermediate rider. She is gaining a reputation around the barn for being a "not spooky" horse and very 'sensible' or 'good minded'. She is aware of her surroundings and looks at things that catch her attention, but quickly decides they are not a danger and moves on. She is currently more whoa than go and is working on maintaining a freely forward walk and trot that is supple and consistent. Every ride is better and she is more confident about moving out. With more strength and body awareness will come the canter for us. Her relaxation and confidence along with building her up physically to do what I ask is the priority now. She is sweet as can be and no problem with other horses or in the herd. She is the type of horse that one might skip over and not notice because she is chestnut, quiet, and doesn't take up a lot of space. They would be foolish though to do so, she is going to make someone a beautiful partner. She loads, she ties...or she just stands nicely by the truck while you tack up...and she is fun to ride! Siobhan's ideal adopter is someone who loves to trail ride and appreciates a horse that is quiet and safe. Her person will want to continue developing her gait but also have the option of trotting and will enjoy her canter if they can motivate her to hop into it. -Being on the quiet and safe side, she has more whoa than go especially in an arena, but absolutely can carry herself and go if expected to. -She goes as she is ridden meaning that if the rider matches her energy and doesn't ask for much, she won't do much. Most recreational riders really need a horse like Siobhan and would be safer if they had one. -On the trail she is more forward without being anxious and has a nice big "gaited horse" walk. -She goes just as well in the bitless bridle as she does with the snaffle bridle. -She glides up and down hills and is not spooky. She crosses water and mud and doesn't mind bikes or dogs. -She is small... 13.2 and petite.. she needs a smaller person with good balance to go comfortably. -She is young and green. Wise, but young. Going great, but green. For the next couple of years her rider needs to be aware that they are continuing to build and developing who she will be under saddle and with people for the rest of her life. -She is so kind and so forgiving and so worthy of the best home with lots of turnout and forage and friends. Siobahn is currently in training in Ohio with Laura Funderburg. Follow her journey on Facebook at #HOPteamsiobhan. Her trainer is going to be going live on Sundays at 6 pm with Siobahn Sundays to provide updates and allow those interested in Siobahn to ask questions about her and the ATFO process. Horses typically adopted UTD on vaccines, dental floats, farrier care and all vet needs. Horse Locations Typically: West Virginia – Kentucky – Virginia – Ohio – Maryland – PA – NC Please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply! We are looking to adopt to safe homes. A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons. Foal adoptions require previous, established experience with youngsters. Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no fail process for finding the right match.
