My Story

Mila - ATFO TRAINING HORSE  Mila 2 year old Tennessee Walking Horse Brown Mare Currently 14.1 (15hh estimated) FEE: $1500 starting bid in August TRAINING: This horse is part of a special training event called the Appalachian Trainer Face Off. You can learn about it on Facebook and on our website. Horses in this training event are adoptable following 100+ days of training in August. Mila is a gorgeous mare who was rescued by Heart of Phoenix.  Mila is going to participate in a 100-day in hand competition as a yearling. She is in the 2024 Appalachian Trainer Face Off. Currently she has been hanging out with a mixed herd of horses just growing up, but at the end of the in hand competition she will be doing the following and is exceeding every goal that her amazing trainer has placed for her: *Stands Tied- Single and Cross *Leads, loads, bathes Nicely *Walks Over Tarps *Walks Through Water *Ponies Nicely *Walks Over Trot Poles *Walks Over And Stands On A Bridge *A Tarp Or Blanket Can Easily Be Thrown Over His Back *Stands Nicley To Be Groomed *Is Okay For The Farrier *Usually Keeps A Clean Stall *Stands For Flyspray *Always Meets You At The Gate Overall, Mila is an extremely sweet, smart horse. Adoption fees may be outdated, as a horse may have moved into training, so check us on most current fee. Horses typically adopted UTD on vaccines, dental floats, farrier care and all vet needs. Horse Locations Typically in Appalachia, but please inquire about a horse's specific location when you apply! We are looking to adopt to safe homes. A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons. Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no fail process for finding the right match. Apply at https://wvhorserescue.org/adopt WVHORSERESCUE.ORG Adopt | Heart of Phoenix We have a Right Horse, Right Match guarantee. If the equine doesn’t end up working out, the horse simply comes back to Heart of Phoenix.
