CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Intermediate Lightning is a 2012 Thoroughbred Gelding standing at 16hands tall and weighs 1082 lbs. Mr. Lightning Boy (Lightning) had a successful career on the track, earning just under five hundred thousand dollars, before being retired due to a broken leg. When Lightning arrived at the farm he required 3 months of stall rest and an additional 5 months of pasture rest. He has recovered nicely with no signs of lameness. Given his previous injury, we do not recommend any high impact riding such as jumping or contesting. Lightning has been started back under saddle. He seams to enjoy being worked, he is very smart, motivated and easily catches on to new things. Lightning stands to be groomed, tacked and mounted. He does get easily distracted and overstimulated in the arena when it is busy but he is much better when he is working and mind is occupied. When the arena is quiet, Lightning is much more relaxed. Lightning is overall a joy to work with, he responds to leg pressure but doesn't understand collection yet. He needs to work on transitions but continues to improve with every ride. We have ridden him western, english and bareback and with good disposition, he shows potential to go in any direction.
