Ford

Ford is a handsome ~20 year old Quarter Horse type gelding. Ford came to us from our rescue partner, The Pennsylvania SPCA, when several horses were rescued from a warehouse in Philadelphia. Ford came in malnourished, with terrible teeth and neglected hooves. Since his arrival, he has been seen by the equine dentist and is on a regular farrier schedule. With proper nutrition he has reached a healthy weight. We are not really sure what Henry Ford's past was like, but we believe he could have been a ranch horse due to several brands. Ford served as an ambassador for LCR for the past few months helping teach some of our young riders. Ford is now looking for a semi-retirement home where he can enjoy lots of pampering! Due to some conformational defaults (swayback and dropped pasterns) he would be best for occasional rides only. Ford is safe, but can be a little strong under saddle as he gets excited about working, so he is best suited for leadline or an advanced beginner/intermediate rider. He enjoys hacking around the property, is excellent to load/haul to offsite trails and has also gone to the beach! Ford has a sweet but silly personality and is quite the character! He craves attention and is always the first one over to you in the field. He has good ground manners, no bad habits, ties, and stands for the farrier and vet. Equine placement fees range from $150 to $2000 depending on the age, training and abilities of the equine. The placement fee includes current vaccines, negative Coggins test, dental floating, de-worming and farrier trimming. All equine adopters must live within 3 hours of Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown, PA.
