My Story

CURRENT RIDER LEVEL: Confident Intermediate Copper is a 2006 Thoroughbred Gelding who stands at 15.3 hands tall and weighs 1,180lbs. Copper is a social gelding who gets along well with the mares and geldings he's turned out with. Copper came to us with a history of behavioral issues in the arena and under saddle. He is doing much better but Copper is still sensitive in some areas and will require an understanding handler and rider. Copper enjoys attention and he will stand quietly to be groomed and loved on. Copper has previously experienced pain from poorly fitting saddles. His pain has subsided but he requires a gentle and slow approach to saddling. When tightening his girth, it needs to be done slowly or he will rear. Copper knows how to side pass to the mounting block for mounting and he does well with treats and positive reinforcement. Copper is as smart as he is sensitive. Both on the ground and under saddle he responds very well to vocal cues. He is sensitive to leg pressure, it doesn't take much to get a response from him. Copper can do anything from English flat-work, jumping to camping trips and trail riding with the right partner who's willing to work with him at his pace.
