Zeus -- Courtesy Post

Zeus is a dog in search of his true family. He wants and so deserves someone who will love him for who he is. Though he looks like a big tough guy, Zeus is a sensitive soul. He sometimes finds unfamiliar people concerning. Is he trying to protect his family? Maaybe... but we suspect that he is just insecure and a little scared of unfamiliar people. Zeus needs to be in an environment that isn't as cramped and busy as his current home. He needs a person who can let him know, "Hey, buddy, I got this." In his current home, Zeus spends a lot of time in a crate. He loves his family, and they've stuck by him despite being, as they know, not the right fit. They are not able to give him what he needs: clear communication and structure OR just a simpler, roomier home environment with few visitors and an ability to patiently work with him to help him feel more comfortable and secure with visitors. We (FFOCAS) are helping Zeus' family find his forever home. We met Zeus and found him very attentive, food-motivated, and ready to learn. Despite the initial barking, once he warms up, he'll greet you exuberantly and playfully. :-) This big hunk is thought to be a mix of American Staffordshire terrier and something larger. He's the kind of dog who will form a strong bond with his family. Zeus does well with older kids (pre teens and up) but plays too roughly for younger kids. Zeus is currently living with a female Chihuahua, with whom he gets along great. He is able to meet and make friends with some dogs, but he can be selective and seems more likely to get along with females. He is not friendly with cats and has pretty decent prey drive. Zeus is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He is about 6 years old and about 80 lbs. He's housetrained and crate trained.
