My Story

ZELDA BREED: Chihuahua/Terrier (Pit Bull/Staffordshire Terrier) AGE: 1.5 years WEIGHT: 23 pounds Zelda is a delight! She's the perfect sized pup, with long legs, who loves to run and play. She likes having a variety of toys around to choose from, but she definitely enjoys curling up with a nice, hard, chew toy. When meeting new dog friends, Zelda might seem a little standoffish, but quickly warms up. She also enjoys running and wrestling with the dogs in her foster home. The Chihuahua in Zelda enjoys the warmth from sunbathing outside on a nice sunny day. She loves to cuddle on the couch with her people, too. When she's excited to see you, she'll nibble on the tips of your fingers while she does her happy dance. Zelda will happily sleep, curled up in bed with her people all night. She is always so excited when she wakes up in the morning-- prepare to be showered with kisses and happy twirls! POTTY TRAINING STATUS: 100% potty trained in her foster home. She does really well on a schedule. When her foster family is home, she is granted access to the backyard at all times and will take herself outside to do her business independently. If she doesn't have access to the yard for some reason, she will seek out a potty pad. CRATE TRAINING STATUS: Zelda sleeps in a kennel each night, for approximately 6 hours. During the day, when foster family is at work (3 days a week) she will stay in her kennel for approximately 4 hours at a time. She does well going into her kennel with a treat reward. EXTRA/MISC. INFO: Zelda originally came to the rescue in February 2023 and was adopted to a family who lived in an apartment with two kids. They took her to the dog park to run and play almost daily, along with shorter walks and potty breaks throughout the day. She was returned to the rescue recently, through no fault of her own, when circumstances in her home had changed. Her previous owners say she would probably do best in a home with a backyard because she loves to run! They also had her DNA done, included picture of the results. Zelda is an excellent little companion, who cannot wait to be welcomed into a home that checks all her boxes. Could your home be the one for her?
