He is 55lbs and is estimated to be around 12 years old, but he definitely doesn't act like it; he still has lots of fun, happy energy to bring to any household! Zeke is your typical velcro dog- always at your side! Zeke is a little hard of hearing (which may be partly due to his breed as a good percentage of Dals are born deaf or hearing impaired), but he appears to have been trained to know sign language. He’s a very smart, good-natured boy! Zeke was found wandering the streets of Houston right before the 4th of July. He was microchipped to his original owner who adopted him from the shelter many years back. Upon speaking to the owner registered on his microchip, she said that he had been missing for 5 years but she didn't want him back. Somewhere in the time when he was allegedly missing, an individual picked him up and held onto him for an unknown amount of time. A day before Zeke was found on the streets, that same individual made a post saying he needed to rehome Zeke. This individual also did not want him back and knew that he had “escaped” but made no effort to try to find him, so we can only assume that he was dumped. Luckily, two kind men found him and cared for him until he made his way to foster care! Since being in his foster home, Zeke’s personality has really started to shine through. We’ve learned that he is a very vocal and opinionated dog, he’ll occasionally smile when he gets super excited, he enjoys car rides, absolutely ADORES kids, and he loves to cuddle and lay on his back for belly rubs. Zeke is the kind of dog that will follow you wherever you go- whether you’re doing chores around the house, watching tv, or taking a walk outside. He has a very chill personality and appears to be extremely well trained. He always waits for "permission" before eating and he's even a champ for things like nail trims and ear cleaning! Due to his time spent lost on the streets, Zeke is unfortunately heartworm positive. He is currently being treated for it and will hopefully test negative soon. Other than that, he is a healthy, happy boy! Zeke is located in Houston TX but can be transported to other states for adoption.
