My Story

This uniquely beautiful girl is Zara. Zara is spunky, playful and a water dog! She has a charming personality, she's so funny. We believe Zara to be a German Shepherd mix, around one year old. She weighs in around 50 pounds. Zara is a rescue; her exact breed and age are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed. Zara has a gorgeous light coat, and unique eye coloration. She has partial iris heterochromia, which is the science-y way of saying that part of one of her eyes is blue, and the rest are brown! Its strikingly beautiful, and the first thing people compliment about her. Meet Zara: https://youtu.be/xLfzeSgGppU Zara loves people, and she's very tolerant. She's quick to accept pets from new friends! This sweet girl will check in, get some pets, and then continue romping around your yard. She loves a good play sesh, but she calms down quickly in the house. She's snuggly on the couch, loves to be pet and loves being called beautiful! With other dogs, Zara can be playful, but she's content to do her own thing too. She's very respectful with her new doggy friends. She's very tolerant with other dogs, and a lot of fun for them to play with. Zara was cat-tested here at the rescue; she did well and wasn't very interested in our house cat. Our behavior team recommends her for a home with cats! Zara is good on leash, even in new environments. She will make a great hiking buddy with her leash skills, stamina and love for water. She's not afraid to get her paws muddy, either! As soon as she was off leash in our yard here at the rescue, she headed straight for the mud, to sniff around and explore! This girl will do great out and about in nature. At Zara's foster home, she love, love, loves the pool! She wants to be in the pool 24/7, and occasionally drives her foster mom a little crazy with her tendency to try to take a midnight dip. Zara spent some time homeless; we cannot blame her for partaking in the luxuries afforded to her these days. Zara will make a great dog for just about anyone. At just over a year old, this girl is highly trainable and ready to be molded into your perfect companion. Zara loves to zoom around; her perfect home would have a big fenced in backyard! Zara could live with cats, dogs, or as an only pet. Zara has not spent much time with kids, to our knowledge, but has a calm and tolerant personality, and will likely do well with them. We are willing to test this dog with anything you need us to in order to ensure she's the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you've found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog's needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn't stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: - 30-day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) - A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx. $25 weekly for an 8-week course of one session per week) - One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan - 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan - Coupons for a fun visit to Petco - Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
