My Story
This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Yummy - a 5-6 year old, Dogo Argentino / American Bulldog mix, who weighs 72 pounds. The first few chapters of Yummy's life have not been easy, and we are praying for her second chance! She had a family that bred her, and the last time that she was pregnant, they dumped her in a horrible part of town. She was emaciated, sad, and very pregnant. She had 14 PUPPIES shortly after coming into rescue, and unfortunately all of her pups passed away. She was unable to sustain her newborns due to the physical condition her body was in. Yummy's heart broke, as did ours, and we vowed to make sure from the moment entering our care she would be spoiled, adored and always loved. And now this gorgeous girl has been looking for her own forever family for more than two months and we just don't know why. Isn't she precious!!!
Her foster shares: "Yummy is a big baby -- but that just means there is more to love to give! She has shown us how laid back, loving and caring she is. She ADORES people - and the more attention she gets, the better! She would do best in a home with older children, simply because she doesn't know her size. She gets along well with other dogs (as long as they aren't bossy and play too rough). She is not bossy at all and is very laid back and calm - which is why she prefers calmer doggy friends. She would be best in a cat-free home. In a perfect world, Yummy would have a family all to herself so she can be spoiled rotten. This gentle giant has lots of love to give, and is ready for her second chapter!"
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
