~DOB: 12/1/2021 Weight: 67 Pounds Energy level: Low-Moderate Overall drive: Moderate Location: Vancouver, WA Yula just happens to be assembled of sugar, spice, and everything nice. She is smart, affectionate, and playful. A true delight to be around! If Yula was a person with one of our pesky human jobs, she would probably be a personal investigator. She will follow you around 24/7 and make sure you are safe by checking all the drawers you are trying to put clothes in, bags of groceries, and overall inspecting the area you are in. Her current specialty is finding missing dog balls, within 15 minutes of being in her foster home she managed to bring her foster 3 balls that hadnt been seen for quite some time. Yula is very loving; she will cuddle for short periods of time but would rather curl up near you or around your feet. Yula loves her family but needs some time to warm up to new people and be allowed to approach when she feels comfortable. She does fine around her fosters 9-year-old nephew and will sniff him, kiss him, and then leave him alone. Yula loves to play ball and ignores everything else on earth while in the middle of a game. She has been on pack walks with other dogs that she is familiar with, but she does have leash reactivity to strange dogs. Her foster is working diligently to help redirect this behavior. A simple leave it will grab her attention enough for her to look to her human so she doesnt become hyper-focused on the other dogs. With her high prey drive, Yula will require a home free of cats, small dogs, and livestock. During Yulas time in foster, we have noticed she loves riding in the car, and she will load right up into her crate and stay quiet the whole trip. Her current foster has not taken her to the vets office, but her temporary foster did and reported that she did fine. She will startle and alert to loud noises with a bark but recovers quickly. If strangers come over to the house, she will give a low deep growl but the approach if she feels comfortable. As for training, she currently knows Sit and Wait. She is working overtime on learning Down, Watch, Leave it, Drop it, and Quiet. Currently, she has a love-hate relationship with her crate, she loves going in her crate on her own accord to nap, lay down, or have a safe place. She will sleep in it overnight but despises going into her crate if her people are leaving the home. Yula will require an impact crate or similar, so she does not escape or injure herself trying to escape. Yula is looking for her forever home that can give her the time and attention she needs. She is by no means a finished dog but that does not make her less than perfect, just a work in progress. This lady would probably be best as an only dog but could tolerate living with another neutral male dog of similar size if the proper introductions are made. So, if you are looking for a diamond in the rough that has the possibility of being the best companion ever, apply for Yula!
