My Story

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION IN THE DOG'S PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE EMAILING US WITH QUESTIONS. Our Volunteers use up valuable time answering questions, when the answers are readily available on our website. Our adoptions come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. We are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a facility. MEET & GREETS FOR DOGS IN ONTARIO WILL ONLY BE ARRANGED ONCE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IS APPROVED. THANK YOU!!! Please visit our website for more information: https://www.niagaradogrescue.com/ or fill in our adoption application: https://niagaradogrescue.com/adoption-application.php OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. This dog is currently located in: Texas Name: Yeppers (20230930-02) Weight: 34lbs Age: 1 year old Gender: male Spayed/Neutered: yes Breed: hound mix Colour: red and white Neck size (for collar): Height (from top of head): Length (from nose to base of tail): Crate size recommended: 36 inch but currently using a 42" Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes, but he jumps and gets excited so may be better with older kids. Good with other dogs: yes, but he has trouble reading a dogs energy. He goes hard to play. He would be best with a playful, energetic and friendly dog. Good with cats: yes, but my kitty doesn’t run. He gave her kisses. House trained: yes, but had a few accidents in his crate in the beginning. Crate trained: yes, may cry at first but doesn't last long. Energy level: medium to high Can be handled/touched: yes, very sweet and affectionate Barker: not a lot really. He has a high pierced whine when he wants out of the crate to play. He doesn't do a typical dog bark...its actually pretty dang cute!! Flight risk: no, but always contained or leashed Food aggressive: no Walks on leash: yes, but needs some work Rides well in car: yes, actually calm in a car Destructive: no, never left loose when not home but haven't seen any destructive behavior Needs a home with a yard: yes Needs a home with another dog: yes, preferred. Sometimes he's scared to get off the porch at night but never scared when with another dog. Dogs tend to give him confidence. Can live in an apartment: no Foster insights/story : Yeppers hasn't had an easy life but this boy is always happy!!! Always!! He is the life of the party type of guy. Some of my cranky dogs get annoyed with him but my younger dogs adore him!! Nothing ever bothers Yeppers even when they snap at him which is kind of a problem because he can't always read their signals of leave me alone. He is also very gentle with my smaller dogs. Yeppers is a little afraid of the dark but if he is with a dog or his person he's fine in the dark. He adores every animal and person he meets!! He is a happy go lucky boy!! He can be a little awkward due to being blind in the one eye but this boy would do great with an active family who likes to go on hikes etc. He is always up for an adventure!! He is still very puppyish.
