Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/breeder retiring
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Yang is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Yang is part of a group of dogs that are currently recovering from extremely poor living conditions. The conditions that we are clearing include sarcoptic mange, skin infections from dirty conditions and lack of grooming, intestinal parasites, and respiratory infections. Every dog has at least one of these conditions; some have multiple. Full records will go with every dog. Yang is estimated as a shih tzu / chihuahua mix. He is not hypoallergenic and will shed.
Weight: 3.5 lbs and growing - we expect Yang will be between 14-18 lbs when full grown
Height: 6 in and growing - we expect Yang will be 12 in when full grown
Spayed/Neutered: No. Due to his age and size, Yang is not neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to neuter him at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of neuter.
Adoption Fee: $399
Fence needed? No, but he would love one!
What kind of home would be best for me? Yang is looking for an active home that is ready to tire him out both mentally and physically. Yang is just a baby and needs to learn everything from walking on a leash to his basic commands. The time you spend walking and teaching him will enable you to form a tight knit bond with Yang. Your partnership will grow into a life-long loving relationship that will have you forever thankful that you took the chance on Yang, a wonderful little pup.
Yang's a puppy, he will play with all other dogs as well as the cats here. Some cats don't take kindly to his play so be certain your cat is ready for an energetic puppy. When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it's important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can!
Puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Puppies are generally very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it's important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can!
What is my personality like? Yang is an active and agile little puppy. He has one speed, GO! He goes and goes and goes until, NAP TIME! As a puppy Yang likes to play, chew on anything he can get hold of, eat and pee and poo. He's a puppy, it's what puppies do.
PUPPY POLICY:
Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog.
Our ideal puppy adopters are:
-experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets
-scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home
-stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc)
How do I act when I first meet new people? Yang's a puppy, he loves everybody! Come play with me!
Other tips and tidbits: Yang is estimated at under 6 months old. We celebrate his birthday 04/19/2024
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
