My Story

Once in awhile you get a call from a shelter saying they have a Dobe or Dobe mix and you get a dog that looks like me, Lenny. I'm a happy handsome hound-boy, not a dobe. I might have a little bit of Doberman in me, but who knows? They say I am an adorable and loveable guy and I think that's supposed to be a good thing. Apparently my long velvety ears are pretty cool, everyone comments on them and wants to touch them. I just got into a foster home and I'm having a great time playing with four other dogs of all sizes and shapes there. I like to play and wrestle with my dog siblings and I really leap around a lot. I'm also very curious about exploring every nook and cranny inside and outdoors. My foster lady and foster mister tell me I must not have ever been taught manners in my previous home, so they are working on that with me. I hear the words "Lenny,no!" a lot but I also hear foster lady and mister laughing and telling me I'm a funny boy. I've learned to sit so that is progress. If you give me a treat I will go into my crate - and if it's bedtime, I'll stay quiet in my crate until morning. I'm also almost housebroken, which I'm told is quite a good thing. I'm very very energetic and need lots of exercise but I'm only about 6 months old so what do you expect? Toys and rawhide bones are so much fun, and I'm trying to learn that shoes and bare toes are not for chewing. I am not shy about letting out that unique hounddog bark when I want something. Oh, and I also like to give kisses. You've heard that Elvis song "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog?" Well those words should be changed to "You sure are somethin' if you're a hound dog" because with just some consistent training and exercise I am going to be one proud hound. Update on me, Lenny! I'm making a lot of progress in the manners department! I have now learned that after I "sit", I have to "wait" for my dinner until foster lady tells me "ok" and I now know what "get in your crate" and "go outside" means. I've taken a couple walks and I don't know how to heel yet, but I don't pull too hard. Foster mister says I'm "kind of a mosey-er" because I LOVE walks and like to take time to smell and watch everything that's going on. I practice the "sit" and "wait" thing on my walks too. Apparently humans like that sort of thing. I've un-stuffed most of my stuffed animal toys so now I get toys that are harder to destroy. I also think that I'm a lap dog - I love to lay on foster mister's lap and snuggle with him after a long day of playing, playing, playing... Adoption Application
