My Story

KAHNE Before coming to IDR, Kasey Kahne "the NASCAR Dane" and his two other "teammates" frequently ran loose and raced beyond the boundaries of their unfenced yard. The neighbors constantly complained, and Kahne's NASCAR-loving owners decided that giving him away would be the solution to their problem. For the last few months, Kahne has been enjoying his pit stop in an IDR foster home, waiting for the right new team to find him. He is still in the middle of Dane puppyhood (date of birth:11/22/04). He has been very sweet, affectionate, and friendly with all of the people he has met, and he still acts like a big, goofy puppy. He loves the other dogs in his foster home, but he does play a bit too roughly with them at times. Like most young Danes, he just has no idea that he is such a big boy. We have learned that Kahne does not wish to share his racetrack with cats or toy breed dogs, and he will therefore not be adopted into a home with them. He currently stands 35 at the shoulder, but he has about a year or so of filling out left to do before he reaches maturity. His correct adult weight should be around 130 lbs. Kahne is completely housebroken and crate-trained. His hobbies include pruning tree branches in the yard, searching for squirrels, and helping unfold clean laundry (if Kahne the dog really had a NASCAR sponsor, we are pretty sure it would be Tide or Febreeze). We are requiring a home with a securely fenced yard for Kahne, so he will be able to exercise safely and abundantly, and we will only adopt him to a home in and around our northern Illinois area. To begin the adoption process, please email a completed IDR adoption application directly to his foster mom Tamara at: [email protected] Kahne looks forward to many more laps around the track wearing his new Dober Duds collar and leash, generously donated by Melissa Potts in memory of Forrest Gump.
