My Story

Gummi Bear was found tied to a nice woman’s door one chilly November morning. She is extremely sweet and we can’t figure out why she would have been abandoned other than her teeth were in horrible condition and every one of them had to be extracted. Don’t worry, it doesn’t slow down her eating and she is a happy little girl. She loves and craves being by her people but becomes afraid when you want to touch her. Over time she will learn that people are good and being carried around is wonderful. This cutie currently lives with other dogs of all sizes and ages and accepts them without any problem although she prefers that they leave her alone and will squeal if they try to play with or chase her. So she would be happiest with another companion that just wants to hang out with her or alone is fine too. Gummi crates easily but does have separation anxiety that shows in the form of barking. Due to this issue, Gummi would not do well in an apartment or townhouse situation. Her forever family will also need some manner of containment when she is in the yard as she can easily get through the tiniest of openings in a fence and once gone, she will not come when called. Gummi is approximately six years old and a Maltese mix who weighs around seven pounds. She really does not know any obedience commands at all but honestly doesn’t do anything wrong. She is food motivated, eats dry kibble if the nuggets are tiny and seems to want to please as long as it is within her comfort zone. Gummi is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and housebroken. Her adoption fee is $225 and she is currently being fostered in the western suburbs of Chicago. If you feel you have the patience and love to open your home to this little orphan email Lara at [email protected] for more information.
