My Story

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION IN THE DOG'S PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE EMAILING US WITH QUESTIONS. Our Volunteers use up valuable time answering questions, when the answers are readily available on our website. Our adoptions come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. We are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a facility. MEET & GREETS FOR DOGS IN ONTARIO WILL ONLY BE ARRANGED ONCE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IS APPROVED. THANK YOU!!! Please visit our website for more information: https://www.niagaradogrescue.com/ or fill in our adoption application: https://niagaradogrescue.com/adoption-application.php OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. This dog is currently located in:Mexico Name: Ximena (20240710-05) Approx. age: 4 years old (est DOB: 09/08/2020) Weight: 55lbs Gender: female Spayed/neutered: yes Breed: black lab/golden retriever mix Colour: black Neck size (for collar): Height (from top of head): Length (from nose to base of tail): Crate size recommended: Good with women: yes Good with men: yes, but is a bit shy around unknown men Good with kids: yes, older kiddos recommended due to size and energy. She does love to play with kids but doesn’t know her size and is energetic Good with dogs: yes, she does bark at them alot but that is just out of excitement Good with cats: no House trained: yes Crate trained: no, but she has been trained to go inside and stay in her personal designated space (fenced space in the garden), so transitioning to a crate should come easy Can be handled/touched: yes, she loves affection, hugs and kisses. Energy level: med/high energy level, she needs a lot of exercise or recreative toys. Flight risk: no Food aggressive: no Current food: Member's Mark Sportsman's Choice Walks on leash: yes, she can walk or run when you need. She is used to going hiking on Saturdays while leashed. Leash reactive to people or dogs: Barker: yes, she barks at other dogs and people, but not in and aggressive way. Destructive: no, but is energetic and needs to be stimulated Rides well in car: yes Needs a home with a yard: yes, this would be ideal. She loves the grass, sunbathing, she loves playing and running. Needs a home with another dog: no, but a friend would be nice Can live in an apartment: no Backstory: Ximena was found in an extremely poor house in a small town in México. This house is located near the rescue shelter and often the rescuers find puppies in need. In this case, Ximena was found at 3 months-old laying in the street, lost, crying. She was found by one of our rescuers and brought her home (to our shelter). One thing about people (in México) is that they found Ximena ‘’ugly looking’’ as she grew up as she is a bigger girl and black in colour (black dog syndrome).
