My Story

Meet Xena, the 46-pound bundle of contradictions and joy! This 1-year-old Collie Shepherd mix is a delightful enigma wrapped in a fur coat. Rescued from a daring freeway dash by a selfless samaritan and some kind-hearted firefighters, Xena is now looking for her forever home. Xena's personality is a delightful blend of her Collie, Shepherd, and Husky lineage. She's loyal, loving, and a bit of a goofball. Energetic yet chill, she’s a talkative, nosey, and stubborn sweetheart who loves to play with toys but isn’t a huge fan of the great outdoors. When she's not making you laugh with her antics, she’s more than happy to cuddle up and bask in your attention. And don’t be surprised if she confidently scoots herself between you and another dog to get her fair share of pets! Training Xena is a bit like taming a whirlwind. She listens well one-on-one, but her focus drifts when other dogs are around. Wire crates are a no-go—she’s an escape artist extraordinaire— but she's perfectly fine being left alone in the house, where she usually lounges on the sofa. During car rides, Xena will provide endless entertainment by barking at people, other animals, and inanimate objects alike. Xena is a social butterfly with dogs, adjusting her play style to suit her furry friends. Whether it's playing rough with the young pups or trying to gnaw and nudge her older buddies, she makes every interaction unique. She hasn’t been tested with cats but we suspect she would probably engage in a chase given her breed! With people, Xena is a mixed bag of bark and shyness. She’ll bark and move towards new folks but becomes wary and shy up close. However, once she warms up, she’s all about the cuddles and pets. She hasn’t spent much time around children, but her calm demeanor suggests she’d be just fine. Energy-wise, Xena is a mixed bundle. She could thrive in either an active home or a more relaxed one, as long as her new family is patient and willing to work with her. A big yard isn’t necessary; she’s content lounging indoors, provided she gets her daily dose of play and mental stimulation. If you’re looking for a quirky, loving, and endlessly entertaining companion, Xena might just be the perfect match. She's a unique character who will bring a lot of love and laughter to her forever home. Ready to give Xena the loving home she deserves?
