Dog Name: Xen
Breed: Aussie/herding mix
Sex: Male
Age: 3 months
Weight: 25lbs
Medical Needs: Requires a booster before he can leave. He also needs to be neutered; it will be scheduled at the Dover BVSPCA. Adopters must live within 1 hour of Dover to ensure he can be brought back for the appointment.
Housebroken: So far so good! I don't leave him off-leash or unattended, and take him out frequently
Crate trained: Yes, he does great for a puppy.
Good in the car: Yes
Good on a leash: He's a very good student and is learning well!
Energy level: Herding puppy means he zooms like he just did a line off the back of a toilet and must GOGOGO until the inevitable crash. All day par-taaaaay!
Need a fenced in yard: No, leashed walks will be fine.
Dog Friendly: Yes!
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, but he'd love a buddy to run with!
Cat Friendly? Yes, and he respects when they've had enough
Kid Friendly: I'd imagine so, yes
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any age with supervision, just remember he's a puppy, and therefore still learning
Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Xen! Child of the wind! Gnawer of toys and bones and maybe sometimes your hand, but him's still learning! Everything must be explored, and everyone is friend, AAAAAAAAA-
Anyway, real talk; Xen is your typical puppy in terms of energy, silliness, need of training ya know, the typicals. He is also wickedly intelligent, and picks things up lightning-quick. He loves being wherever you are, and also checking out new things. Conquering yards, wood piles, and winning the hearts of even the grumpiest of his foster doggo siblings with his politeness and understanding of social cues that's Xen. He is, in a word, delightful.
Being a herding breed, Xen has both bountiful energy as well as drive, so making sure to channel that appropriately will be your ticket to success. A well-rounded pup is a happy pup, and Xen may already be the happiest fluffball in town, but watching his eyes light up with every new thing he learns is the best thing ever.
