My Story

Iʼm Xander, a male black boxer born approximately 6/07. Yes, there are black boxers, we are less common, but CAAWS didnʼt just spray paint me for special effects. I am up to date on shots, recently neutered and completed heartworm treatment 9/12/08. My last owner got rid of me because I had a skin condition called Demodex. This is a non-contagious mange that is treatable and my skin is now good as new. Guess my last owner thought a trip to a high-kill animal shelter would take less time and money. Their loss will be your gain. I donʼt seem to realize my size and strength and can be a little over-exuberant at times, so I would do best in a home without small children. I get along with other dogs and adults. Oh, one other thing. When I was at the dogtor for my exam, he listened to my heart with his stethoscope and found out that I have a heart murmur. We arenʼt sure if this is a birth defect or a congenital malformation, but the good thing is that it has not progressed since Iʼve been here. Us heart murmur victims can lead relatively normal lives, but our owners must consider carefully the risks of anesthesia for elective procedures such as teeth cleaning beforehand. My heart might have a murmur, but itʼs so full of love to give. Wonʼt you be the lucky one to receive it?
