UPDATE from foster mom, 3-9-08 Wrangler is a beautiful 3 yr old purebred Lab. This is a big 80#, bold, energetic guy who was just rescued from a life of being constantly chained. Once allowed to be a companion, and with the proper daily run, he is quickly learning sit, down, and to heel on leash. He is good in the house but loves being able to run free in the yard. By the way, he sticks around like glue, never wandering far, and almost always waiting happily on the porch for his human friends to come outside to play with him. His leash manners are impeccable too, someone MUST have worked with him at some point...... Wrangler is very good natured with people, kids and other dogs, but please-no chickens! If you are an active outdoor person Wrangler can keep up with you anywhere and will be a happy loving friend. He's an owner turn in, after living his life on a chain without proper exercise, he chewed the seat off the 4-wheeler he was tied next to and the owner threatened a to shoot him. A man came along and offered to take him, brought him home and turned him loose. He killed some chickens. We don't fault him for that at all, afterall, he IS a bird dog and Lab's left to their own devices and under exercised DO chew! This man was going the same way as the first man, when one of our volunteers heard about it and stepped in just in the knick of time! He is LARGE, around 80#'s, albeit a bit skinny. He is a deep golden color and has an enourmous, block (desirable in most circles) head. He LOVES people, all people, although he is ALOT of dog and needs a strong handler. Because of his size and strength, he could make an excellent duck/goose dog, with the right training. We know he's "birdy" =] ....He is in basic obedience with his foster mom now, and already showing some improvement. He's very eager to please and intelligent. He has spent most of his life on a chain, ignored. We will update this bio. as soon as we know him a bit better.
