My Story

UPDATE: Well we have two new boys here! Orin and Wick are making tremendous progress, Wick more so than Orin but both are playful and very good boys. We are enjoying the heck out of them!! You will, too. Wick and his brother Orin were dumped by a breeder when they got too old to sell. Yeah, who would ever want a 7 month old puppy? They don't act like abused dogs but are timid as if they haven't had much human contact. In the picture before they were shaved, you can see the kind of shape they were in when we got them ---- scared to death and relying on each other for comfort. With love and patience, they are starting to make progress. They are still timid but we can see that things are starting to change. Today, they were groomed for the first time. You may notice in the picture of the two of them that Orin has a hair coat which covers fairly well. Wick's hair is pretty sparce. They are Hairy Hairless Chinese Crested pups. I debated even having them groomed but decided to give it a try. The groomer said that they were pretty good on the table considering it was their first time. They look adorable. The boys are about 10 - 11 pounds each and we don't expect that they'll grow much larger as they are a toy breed. In order to adopt one of them, we will want to hear what you know about the skin care requirements for this breed. Experience with hairless dogs will be a plus. We will take Orin and Wick to their first adoption event on April 26th as we have found over and over again that that environment is helpful as we work to socialize former puppy mill dogs. Wick is the one with the darker face and, according to the groomer, is slightly less timid than Orin. He's also just a tad smaller than Orin. I know that these boys have a bright future ahead of them.

The adoption fee for Wick is $250. Each of our dogs is up to date on all shots, including rabies, spayed or neutered, microchipped, fecal tested for internal parasites, treated if necessary, tested for heartworm, treated if necessary, on heartworm preventative and we also take care of dentals or any other medical needs they may have.
