My Story

We've had Wesley for six weeks now and he is the best foster dog we've had. He is extremely loving. He knows which furniture he is allowed on and stays off of everything else. He goes in his crate when you tell him to, usually without a fuss. He doesn't bark (he whimpers when he's in his crate and hears us moving around so we'll let him out). He has had some accidents in spots where previous dogs had done their business in the house, so we don't let him in those areas and he seems house-trained everywhere else.

Wesley loves his three foster family members (two women and one man) and is also eager to be loved on by houseguests. The first few days he lived with us he was very fearful and did not want to be touched, and he snapped if cornered. Since then, he has NEVER snapped or showed any aggression. He has been at parties with a dozen people and he will sit on laps and allow anyone to pet him. He is the ultimate beta-dog.

Wesley gets along well with other dogs at the dog park but isn't much into "playing." He'll sniff around people and dogs, but will not play fetch, play-fight, or swim. We took him to a friend's house where there was a cat and he was afraid of the cat, who wanted to make friends. We haven't seen him around children.

He loooooves affection and will let us cradle him like a baby. In his perfect world, there would be at least two human hands on him at all times. Barring that, however, he's happy to curl up on his chair and rest, or stand by the gate and watch the cars go by. The Wesley you see at the adoption center bears little resemblance to the true dog. He's a scaredy-dog, but take him out for a walk or take him home for a foster week, and you will see a terrific little dog emerge!

Wesley is a tan wirehaired dachshund. He is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested. His adoption fee is $100
