My Story

Walter is from from Upson County. He has completed treatment for heartworms and is getting some TLC in his foster home. He's very old or, as the vet says, "he's over the hill & down in the valley.. way down." Because of his previous life, he has lost much of his muscle mass and he is very cautious. He had to learn to go for walks. He would stand at the gate & barkbarkbark, even after he couldn't see you. The first couple of walks he was only good for about half of a block but now he goes all the way around the block and looks forward to it each night. He actually has an "I'm the Dude" kind of strut. Initially he could not make it up the stairs (lost muscle mass) & was very wobbly on the way down but he's steadily improving. He L-O-V-E-S to ride in the car. You don't even have to ask him to go to the car - he heads straight for the car. He's like the gunner, intently staring out the window looking for targets. All you can see are his eyes & his pointed little head. Walter likes to sleep on the heating blanket (and deserves to). He is not aggresive EXCEPT at the vets (can you say muzzle?). He greets you in the morning and when you come home, but after that he's content to go his own way and will check on you from time to time. Won't you open you home to this great-grandpa hound so that he can live out his remaining years with a loving family?
