My Story

Walter is a very friendly 9 year old beagle. He loves to be with people and seems to do well with kids. He enjoys going for walks, and doesn't pull on his leash unless he finds a really good smell that he just can't resist! He does great riding in cars, too! Walter was rescued by a veterinarian. She has been working with Walter and has found that he has a bit of a problem with separation anxiety. He was ok when she left him alone in her car while running errands, and he was ok when she left him in the house and went out in the yard. However, when she left him at home and drove away, he urinated in the house. He is on Clomacalm for anxiety, and his dosage will run about 50 cents/day if he needs to be kept on it. It is possible that once Walter got into a home where he is comfortable and secure, that he will be ok without the medication. Also, a home with another dog might help with this issue. At this point, there hasn't been an opportunity to try that out. Separation anxiety can be challenging to work with, but with patience many dogs can do ok. Walter is a super special dog and well worth the effort. He is a great companion. UPDATE: Walter has found a wonderful new home and is doing very well in his new environment! Thanks for giving him a second chance!
