Meet Walter! An fun-lovin' male 2 year purebred Drahthaar who finds himself at the humane society because his former owner felt that Walter needed a home where he had more room to run and play. He's a handsome dog with a coat that has dark brown ticking, a body with the German Shorthair Pointer look and head of the German Wirehair Pointer. Very good looking! This breed was typically bred to be hunting dogs but make wonderful indoor family pets.
Walter is house-broken, crate-trained and walks well on a leash. Walter is an energetic guy who needs a home who will be active and want Walter to be a part of the family. He needs plenty of exercise to prevent extreme indoor restlessness. This dog wouldn't be a couch potato type! He needs daily long walks and will do best with at least a large yard. He is super smart knowing the commands sit, stay, down, come, sit pretty and he can dance too! WOW! He is a 'smarty pants special'!
Walter has lived with a family, kids, and is fine with other dogs. He has not had any experience with cats (but we can test him with cats if need be). His best game is fetch and he loves his Kong toys. Walter is fed NutriSource chicken & rice dry food (this is the food that agrees with him - his former owner said that he doesn't do well on other brands). This food can be purchased at a pet food store (Mares-Z-Doates) or online. It is a bit more than some brands but not too much. Anyway, Walter likes it the best - it keeps belly aches at bay!
In closing, if you are an active person or family, want a dog to be an active, loving part of your home, and have the time for an intelligent, playful, very active, lovable pet, please come to MCHS for an introduction to our boy Walter!
