My Story

Waldo is a 5 year old Chihuahua mix currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services, Bakersfield Shelter since January 31st and is ready for their new home. Pet ID: A1175845 Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services to find homes for high risk dogs at Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield, CA. The shelter has around 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five-months-old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community. Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to under-staffing. Foster homes must be in Kern County. 805-492-CAPS (2277) [email protected] CAPS can arrange transportation if you are on the West Coast and help you find transportation if you are in a state outside of this area.
