My Story

Please note donations using the SPONSOR ME tab will not go to Fluffy Dog Rescue. Also, we do not respond to the "Considering this pet for adoption" link on the right hand side of the listings. This is put on by Petfinder and we operate differently. We want you to go to our website and complete and application. To Locate Our Application go to http://rescue.fluffydog.net/how-to-adopt.html MY AGE: approx. 2-3 years WEIGHT: approx. 30 lbs. MY STORY: Voltaire is a little too formal of a name for this shaggy guy so we call him Terry. He's been in our foster home for about 6 weeks or so now with a recent two week break when we went on vacation. Adorable Terry came from a puppy mill and was released by the breeder to the rescue along with a few other dogs. Just like many of the breeder release dogs that have come to the rescue recently Terry had limited contact with people and certainly didn't live in a home while with the breeder. His new family will need to understand that he'll need time to adjust to the people and routines in his new home. We left a harness and leash on Terry the first 2 weeks he was here because he wouldn't willingly come to us. He mostly spent time in the corner of the living room or his crate. We threw him treats every time we passed him so he would associate us with good things. Slowly we were able to take the leash off of him. He is still cautious around my husband and new people. Terry does great around all of the dogs he's met. He loves to play and runs and wrestles with our golden doodle Mae (she's also a breeder release we adopted from Fluffy Dog). He takes treats politely and doesn't steal food or toys from the others. He does like chew toys but doesn't know how to fetch. He does his potties outside for the most part. When I'm not home my husband reports accidents. Before we went on vacation I'd say he was about 95% there and he's regressed a little since we were away. He'll need time to understand the rountine in his new home. Because he's fearful of new things we haven't taken him on walks in the neighborhood yet but we'll start trying this week with him and Mae. We'll start slow, going just a few houses at first. Mae was the same when we got her and now she dances each morning waiting for her harness and leash. Terry sleeps in a crate in our room at night and goes in there on his own around 9pm and sleeps quietly until I get up. Terry is probably about 2 yrs old and he has tight, soft curls. We have not had any shedding. Please read the article about breeder release dogs on the rescue's website under resources. We'll add more pics and videos to our foster home Facebook page Foster 2 Furever. His journey will be a process of patience. We do require another dog in the home and a secure fenced 6 ft yard. Our Resources page has good information on breeder dogs and their socialization. Fostered in Arlington Heights, IL. ADOPTION FEE: $750 To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION. Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess. WI License #270548. Check out Fluffy Dog Wellness on our Home Page. Great Solutions to Enhance Your Pet's Health. www.fluffydog.net
